History: The first of Imperial Easter eggs known to be dated. Made by M. Perchin under Carl Peter Faberge supervision in 1893 for Tsar Alexander III, who presented it to his wife Maria. Currently the gg is located in the Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art in Nashville, Tennessee. It commemorates the Imperial hunting lodge in Abastumani in Caucasus where Grand Duke George spent most of his life after being diagnosed with tuberculosis. Miniatures were done and signed by Krijitski.
The miniatures are revealed by opening four pearl-bordered doors around the egg. Each door bears a diamond-set numeral of the year, forming the year 1893. Behind the hinged cover at the top is a portrait of the Grand Duke in his naval uniform.

Caucasus Imperial Egg Replica Exquisite January 11, 2015
Reviewer: Pat from MA
I am, once again, extremely delighted with my latest
"Imperial" Egg.  It is a very good replica as I had the chance to see Faberge's original at the MET in NYC recently.  The coloring is rich and the numbering on the "doors" revealing portraits when opened are beautifully done.  The price, while not cheap, is reasonable considering the good workmanship.  This is egg #10 for me from BestPysanky.  I have some 200 eggs & egg ornaments that I have collected during the past 30 years and these "Imperial" Eggs are among my favorites.
