Inspired by the historic 1912 Tsarevich Imperial Egg created by master workman Henrik Wigström for Empress Alexandra Feodorovna, this elegant design honors her son, Tsarevich Alexei. The original masterpiece was crafted from six sections of deep blue lapis lazuli, sometimes appearing violet in certain light, joined by intricate gold, silver, and diamond tracery in the Louis XV style. Decorative double headed eagles, garlands, and cherubic motifs symbolized dynastic strength and imperial devotion, while a large flat diamond at the top concealed the date 1912 and the Empress’s initials.

Its celebrated surprise featured a diamond studded Imperial eagle made of platinum, holding a miniature portrait of the young heir and representing his health and future as successor to the throne. Delivered in 1912, the original egg was later confiscated after the Revolution, sold abroad in 1930, and eventually acquired by Lillian Thomas Pratt. It is now preserved at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.
