Inspired by the celebrated 1906 Swan Egg, this elegant design reflects one of the most mechanically imaginative jeweled Easter creations of the early twentieth century. The historic masterpiece was commissioned by Tsar Nicholas II as an anniversary gift honoring the Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna, commemorating forty years of marriage and symbolizing enduring devotion.

The original egg, crafted under the supervision of master workman Henrik Wigström, featured a refined matte mauve enamel surface adorned with a diamond trellis pattern. Inside, it concealed an extraordinary mechanical swan automaton set upon an aquamarine “lake” within a floral basket. When wound, the miniature swan gracefully moved its neck, wings, and feet, echoing the famed eighteenth-century Silver Swan and representing fidelity and grace.

Echoing that romantic symbolism, this richly enameled interpretation presents a sculpted swan surprise nestled within the egg. The luminous purple enamel, gold-tone framework, and crystal accents highlight its regal character, while the decorative stand enhances its stately presentation.
