Icon border is raised to create a distinct frame. The technique of painting is egg tempera on prepared gesso wood, natural time-honored pigments and genuine gold-leaf for background gilding, consistent with the Orthodox tradition of iconography. The artist used matte fluid acrylics which replicate class egg tempera. The background is painted.
